Things to Do in Telluride, Colorado in the Summer: Mountain Adventures, Downtown Charm & Resort Magic
Of all the places we visited on our Colorado trip, Telluride completely stole my heart. I absolutely loved everything about it—from the stunning scenery and fun summer activities to the dreamy resort vibes and charming downtown. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again, and now I can’t stop thinking about planning a return trip… maybe even to ski there someday.
🏞️ Telluride Scenery is Next-Level
The minute you arrive in Telluride, you’re surrounded by towering peaks, waterfalls tumbling down cliffs, and a postcard-perfect box canyon. It’s honestly hard to believe a real town exists in a place this beautiful. Every hike, drive, and gondola ride comes with a view that takes your breath away.
🎿 Mountain Village & Resort Fun
We spent time exploring the resort area in Mountain Village, and I truly fell in love with it. The gondola between the resort and downtown is free and so scenic—it’s basically a ride and an attraction in one. The resort itself is peaceful in the summer, with plenty to do right on site.
- Scenic gondola rides
- Mountain biking trails
- Hiking paths through the forest
- Family-friendly activities like bungee trampolines and rock climbing
It has the feel of a European alpine village, and I kept thinking how magical it would be in the winter for ski season.
🏘️ Downtown Telluride
Downtown Telluride is one of the cutest towns I’ve ever walked through. It’s the kind of place where you can grab coffee in the morning, browse local shops, pick up handmade jewelry or art, and then end the day with a delicious meal surrounded by mountain views. The town has a relaxed, upscale vibe that feels both refined and laid-back. It’s stylish without being stuffy, and I just wanted to linger there for hours.
🍽️ Dining & Coffee
There are so many amazing places to eat and grab a drink. The outdoor patios were full of people enjoying the sunshine and fresh air, and everything we tried was fantastic. Next time, I want to stay even longer just to try more restaurants and enjoy slow mornings with coffee downtown.
🏔️ Why I Can’t Wait to Go Back
Telluride made me want to come back for every season. I’m already dreaming of returning to ski there in the winter, and I’d love to spend more time staying in Mountain Village or right downtown. The summer was absolutely magical, but I can only imagine how cozy and beautiful it must be with snow-covered rooftops and glowing fire pits.
Final Thoughts on Telluride, Colorado
Telluride is one of those rare places that’s even better in real life than in the pictures. The views, the peaceful energy, the perfect mix of luxury and nature—I loved every minute. Whether you’re visiting in the summer for outdoor fun or dreaming of a winter ski trip, it’s a place that captures your heart and keeps calling you back.
