WHERE WE STAYED IN GRANBY RANCH, CO
We stayed in Granby, CO on our trip. We stayed at Granby Ranch. On our first night there we ate at the Bluebird Bistro at the bottom of the ski slope. The food was great. The atmosphere was amazing. The kids had a great place to run and play and we just loved it there. We watched mountain bikers take their last few runs on the ski slope. They rode up on the lifts, they rode down on their bikes and we watched them clean off their bikes at a wash station there too. Sitting outside in the summer in CO is such a blessing. We truly enjoyed the beautiful weather, food and atmosphere. Even the staff there was great. We will for sure be back and maybe even in the winter to ski there since it’s a cute small slope for the kids.
When we go back in the summer though, we will stay within walking distance to the beach or the downtown area. The shops and restaurants are so cute. There is an ice cream shop within walking distance no matter where you are. And we loved all of it. We loved the beach and the coffee shop by the beach. So we think will stay closer.
If we cannot find a place within walking distance to that area, we will stay 5-10 min away and we will drive in every morning and park down by the beach. It’s close enough to the beach and to the shops and restaurants. And then it saves your spot for the day at the beach.

1. YMCA of the Rockies – Snow Mountain Ranch
If you’re traveling with kids, this is one of the top family-friendly places to stay. It has everything: an indoor pool, mini-golf, a roller skating rink, a climbing wall, playgrounds, craft cabins, and even tubing hills in the winter. It’s a great place for kids to roam safely and enjoy nature.
2. Inn at SilverCreek
A great mid-range option with loft-style rooms, kitchenettes, and a big indoor/outdoor pool. Families love the cozy feel and the proximity to downtown Granby. It also has a game room and tennis courts—bonus points for burning off extra kid energy.
3. Granby Ranch Vacation Rentals
If you’re planning a ski vacation or want space to spread out, Granby Ranch offers condo and home rentals right on the slopes. Many rentals include hot tubs, bunk beds, and fireplaces—ideal for cozy family nights after a day outdoors.
4. WorldMark Granby – Rocky Mountain Preserve
This resort-style condo setup gives families the comforts of home: full kitchens, laundry, and lots of space. There’s also a pool and a fitness center, and the mountain views are stunning.
WHAT TO DO
We love doing outdoorsy things so we had a great time at the lake. You can rent a kayak, a paddle board or a peddleboat. We have our own little kids 6 foot Lifetime Kayaks and two paddleboards I got on Amazon. This paddle board is smaller. This paddleboard is wider and better of yoga.
SIDE NOTE ABOUT KAYAKING AND PADDLEBOARDING WITH KIDS
I paid $275 for one paddleboard and $175 for another. I purchased them years apart. I started gathering gear a few years ago and purchased over time. The kids kayaks are under $135 new. You can also look for them used and they can be a great deal that way. I think they are worth owning and using. Cheap paddle boards are totally find I think. My kids prefer the kayaks for longer hauls b/c of the dual paddles. They are just easier to maneuver. You can’t really go wrong with cheap paddle boards but it does help to have a better pump. As long as your board is inflated enough, you are good to go.
My kids all loved to start kids kayaking around 5 or 6 years old for reference.
